I Love My New Highchair (Or I Must Have Very Little Stimulation In My Life At The Moment)

I absolutely love my new highchair that I bought for Isabel. I had it scoped out for awhile because I hated everything traditional (highchair) that I used with my son. The Peg Perego stunk big time! Hard to clean, bulky, he never wanted to be in it, never fit in with the room, always had to roll it out of the room when it wasn't in use...in other words..ick! (and expensive for the amount of time you use it!)

It's called the Svan Highchair. First, you can pick out a color that matches your decor. So, it actually matches your house. Second, you pick a cushion that is washable so you don't have to spend hours scouring a "non-washable" baby highchair cushion back. And see how she is pushed up to the table? The tray of the highchair hangs on the back of the highchair when not in use so she can "play at the table. See how she is pushed under the table? Oh my...I've never gotten so excited about a baby product. Someday..you will get excited about these things too.

But then the tray is snapped on for feeding times. But then the beauty of this product is this is a grow as you go product. It is also a toddler chair. The highchair portion comes off and it becomes a secure toddler chair. And because I became interested in this chair after I bought the Stokke Kinderzeat below, (for Ian when he was 18 months) I imagine it is made with the same secure innovative European type design.

Anyway, I don't plug baby products too often. This is the Stokke Kinderzeat above, by the way. (for 18 months and above) But, I know a lot of you are adopting and thinking about things to buy. You might look at the price of these and think Holy Cow, lady! But, I swear...these chairs are worth their weight in gold. I had no luck with highchairs, and they were a pain to clean. Plus, you don't use them for very long. The thing I like about this new highchair is not only does it look great, but it will last for a long time and will transition into a toddler chair. I am also hopeful that if it transitions into something like the Kinderzeat...it will be excellent because Ian sits in the Kinderzeat every night at dinner with us. They are incredibly sturdy, too, and do not tip easily at all. Meaning, he can climb into his chair by himself unasisted, and they can be adjusted as they grow. Great toddler chairs.

I am intrigued. I love that you can choose fabric to match your decor. How does it do on your hardwood floors though?

Wow, that is too cool! How have I not heard of this? That demonstration is net, too, showing all the different configurations...

OH MY GOD I am in love with that chair!!!!! And I have not been excited about ANY baby products yet. In fact I have gone into Babies R Us about 4 times now, poked dismally at their offerings and left near tears. I had no idea there was such a thing -- it's WOOD!!!! No plastic? Oh I could just kiss you. I'm sending this link to all of my relatives right now. In fact, if anyone's reading this comment, please put one under the Christmas tree for me. Cherry wood and black fabric please.

Thank you Jen!!! I have been looking for these chairs forever...but when you don't know what they are called-well I had just given up. My cousin found one 6 yrs ago when they were living in thailand and they said it was the best chair ever. A million thanks for posting this before i bought a plastic one!

Now how to convince Sean...

I ordered from this site after doing a lot of research, and it came fast. (5 days)

http://www.toadsandtulips.com/svanhighchair.html

You can find it at some traditional sites like babycenter and amazon, but this one was the cheapest for $207 and free shipping.

I just checked and they just lowered it to $199.00 with free shipping. I have never seen them that low. Must be Christmas related. They never go on sale. (normally $219-229 and stay steady)

Jen, Thanks again. I just ordered one and for anyone else interested-Toads and Tulips has free shipping AND no sales tax. Basically you get the $30.00 cushion free, compared to buying at other sites. What else makes it a plus: grows with your child, not bulky, portable if needed, hardly any nooks and crannies to clean.
The cost is easily justifiable in my opinion-

Hi Jen, I know these chairs too (I'm living in Europe) and they are really popular here as well! They're on our wishlist too! :) Preferably the bright red one! But yes, it's very expensive. On the other hand, if you think about it, this chair can be used for at least 10 years. So if you divide the price with 10, it suddenly isn't that expensive a year anymore. :)
I like your weblog! I saw it via www.adoptionblog.com.
